Slum Lord or Just Plain Slow?

Broken-FurnaceThis article is for those people who might have a few questions concerning tenants rights, ethical behavior and basic human rights; as well as, what it means to have those rights violated as far as law.

My husband, daughter and I just moved into a new place at the beginning of the year, and for lack of better words the experience has been trying and draining. For one thing moving in the cold for some people would be a turn off. However, for us the cold weather has proved to be an excellent factor in our seeing the condition of the stead, that is, things that might have not been known until later were brought forward.

First, there is need to realize that ignorance plays a huge part in what property managers get away with and for how long. When I say ignorance, prospective tenants who are not aware of the ins and outs of what to look for  in their properties, or about the business of doing your own inspection of the property to look past good looks, more space, new countertops and new carpet. Hence, these, though eye-catching for renters need to be at the end of the list as far as move-in readiness of the property.

America’s constitution pronounces, “Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness.” Therefore, most Americans have the freedom to choose where they want to live. Accordingly, no one is happy when some have spent their money to move only to find that though they want your money they do not care to spend money so that you can live happily, or at least with the liberty to be happy.

Abraham Maslow developed a theory concerning the basic of human needs saying that people are most motivated when certain needs are met.

They are: (a) physiological, (b) safety, (c) love, and (d) esteem all these which one must have and which lead to a self actualization. It is the case that without these people cannot be motivated. In this we discuss safety because we are speaking about housing.  Therefore, people feel safe and are safe when they have adequate shelter. That means, when a home is  purchased or renting of  a dwelling that the shelter is not substandard, that is, the roof is good, the air and heating is working, as well as the plumbing.

Subsequently, some have been taken aback to find that once they moved in all hell has broken loose. In our case, what happened is the heat stopped working in the dead of winter and temperatures well below 30 degrees, so that even with a fire going the place was cold. What has happened over the last few days has been a nightmare. I finally, after not being taken seriously had to call code compliance.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe that stereotypes have played a part, because nothing about my speech says education I look like a typical black female, sound like a typical black female which means that I am not well versed, or rather, pro-perrr in speech. I jest here, but my landlords may have taken that to mean uneducated, and here I set with a Bachelor degree and near finished with a Master. Big mistake for them, because needless to say I know more than what I might look like. Moreover, I have rented before but it is a far cry from housing and HUD to actually house hunting on one’s own.

For you, here are a few tips. Always make sure that the property has been properly inspected.

1. Check the attic to make sure that it is properly insulated, especially, those homes older and with cathedral ceilings.

2. If you have a fireplace, before move in ask to start a fire, or, ask for inspection of the fireplace.

3. Make sure that plumbing is working. If the water is off, ask them to turn it on to check that the toilets flush and there are no leaks. One place we had already paid our deposit when it was found that the last tenants had poured cement and cut electrical wiring.

4.Make sure the lights are working everywhere. Some places have the electric connected for tenant viewings already.

5. Water heater. One of the things that happened here is that our water heater was working but sprung a leak. Come to find upon the inspection of the heater that it  was manufactured in 1988. This is 2015 can you imagine? That water heater was tired.  Luckily it was a slow leak and thanks to our grandson’s incessant complaints about his wet socks we were spared our carpet being ruined.

6. Keep written record of events, emails, pictures and phone calls requesting maintenance

Crypto Virus File Killer

Cryptolocker-payment1So what I found out during my experience with that Crypto locker virus is that is it dangerous.

Microsoft is doing research on this new terror of Cyberspace.

Some things you should be aware of is the virus is wireless, and that it can sometimes be undetected by your anti virus. What this means is that you probably will not notice that you are infected until it has taken all of your files hostage.

How does it do it?

Generally, at the point of infection is when the virus starts to encrypt files, and being that it does so slowly one might not notice. Hence,  one file might appear unreadable; however, who would think that something is amiss with only one file right? Wrong?

Check, because a file which was unreadable where it once was might be a clue.

Call Microsoft immediately: 1-866-727-2338

Once the files are encrypted that is the end. However, they can save your computer. Businesses beware.

Your Sunday Bread: The Key Word is to “Abide!

Once, we have heard truth we must stay with it! Not an easy way, because in this we see that we must give up some stuff. However, to get back to covenant with Yah, to re-enter the marriage we have to give up our whoring hearts. Sounds harsh, doesn’t it? The fact that Yahuwah calls us whores and adulterers but this is exactly what we need to hear.

hebrews making bricksLook at this, Once saved, always saved is the word given by religion. Yes, we can all enter the gate with smelling and looking like whores; that is the world. Not so, because the truth says, “Enter through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide–and the way is broad–that leads to destruction and there are many who enter through it. Because the gate is narrow and the way hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13-15). The text goes on to tell us about the false prophets and wolves, which many can’t seem to believe have tricked us.

Oh my goodness, but Yes, beloved we have been tricked into thinking that we follow the narrow gate; when in fact, there are millions of people on the road of destruction…chasing prosperity, quick fixes and organized religion. Idol worship!

But here is truth, John 15 saying, “I am the true vine and My Father is the gardener. Every branch in Me that bears no fruit He takes away. And every branch that bears fruit he prunes, so that it bears more fruit. You are already clean because of the Word which I have spoken to you. Stay in Me and I stay in you. As the branch is unable to of itself, unless it stays in the vine, so neither you, unless you Stay in Me. ”

Now, the question comes; who does he speak to?

Knowing who we are is key here. We hear sermon after sermon, lesson upon lesson speaking of the Israelites; however, then they say as Christians we should do as the Israelites; or rather not do as the Israelites. This can be confusing, why don’t we just settle this thing once and for all. I am an Israelite, born into the Royal Priesthood, hence, what the word speaks it is for me, it is me he speaks to. Not as a Christian but as one chosen to find the narrow gate.

Get this, it matters whether or not we can see ourselves and know ISRAEL that this word is written for YOU.

Yahshua says, “I was not sent, except for the lost sheep of Israel.” (Matthew 15). So it would behoove us to know who we are to get this word.

The world would have us believe (has done a good job with it) that we are gentiles, and that the “lost sheep” are missing. Truth is “lost” in this instance is “lost minds.” We don’t think very much of Yah when we believe that he would actually let his beloved go. No, we were lost alright to us, not knowing who we are where we come from and dependent on others for that information, but Yah has always know where we are, who we are, what we are, where we belong.

So, it matters the identity that we cast off Christianity, cultism, and pick up truth. You are Royal Priests and Priestesses, even though we don’t look like it. hebrews

Look at this Yahuwah says,”the First and the Last, who became dead, and came to life: “I know your works, and pressure, and poverty – yet you are rich – and the blasphemy of those who say they are Yehuḏim and are not, but are a congregation of Satan. “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. See, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, in order to try you, and you shall have pressure ten days. Be trustworthy until death, and I shall give you the crown of life. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes shall by no means be harmed by the second death.” (Revelations 2:9-11).

It pays to know who you are. Are you suffering, have you suffered? We must see a bigger picture than what we suffer daily, it is the NATION which Yah speaks of. Are you poverty stricken? I know some of us believe if we have a 1.00 past 2.00 then we are rich, but really who are we kidding we have nothing compared to the vast riches Yah has in store for us. Look at sickness, employment, homelessness, mental illness, prison rates, fatherless, widowed (single mothers), education, and see who suffers most in those. Lets not forget slavery—all found in Deuteronomy (i.e., the curses).true hebrew Israelites

Finally, this word says Repent Israel, and come from among your religious sects; You are not Christian, Methodists, Muslim, Mormon are none of that. You are Yah’s chosen.

Can the So Called Righteous Prevail in Prayer? Really?

land where the old song “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing” comes to mind, and is now replaced by a request for the world to pray in one harmonious tune.

What is Adopt a Terrorist for Prayer Movement? The approach is really a free for all prayer session, non-restrictive and prochoice for all who wish to participate. Conversely, in this “prayer meeting” there is a chance for all people to work together quietly and peaceably to stop terrorism.

Dr. Bruce Thomas, in the article, “Fighting Terrorism Is Like Fighting Addiction” says, “When under the influence of alcohol, the abuser of his wife and children thinks he is doing right things to manage his household. Likewise, when under the influence of certain doctrines, suicide bombers think they are taking proper steps to defend Islam. An alcoholic’s drunken tirades terrorize a family into appeasement and cooperation. An alcoholic’s drunken driving threatens a whole community. Similarly, inflammatory rhetoric from a terrorist or a sympathizing cleric intimidates peaceful Muslims into passivity and compliance. Actions resulting from this rhetoric threaten the world.”

Send terrorism to detox through prayer? If nothing else is working it could be worth a try. Certainly, no one will hold a gun to one’s head if they choose not to act; in prayer that is.

Your Sunday Bread: Come From Among Them

Cloisters of Essen Minster, Essen, Germany.

The falling away was falling to idols and that thing is going on in the church today. Look at this video, how many crucifixes do you see behind you…even in the window behind the curtain…looks like little crosses lined up there. For what? The cross is symbolic of death…so Yahushua was killed there; however where in the word does it say to worship the cross….the power is in the resurrection.

Paul says in Philippians “What is more, I even count all to be loss because of the excellence of the knowledge of the Messiah Ha Mashiac my Master for whom I have suffered the loss of all, and count them as a refuse in order to gain the Messiah, and be found in Him not having my own righteousness, which is of the law (of the law meaning those things done found in the law), but that which is through belief in Messiah, the righteousness which is from Elohim on the basis of belief, to know Him, and the ((((Power of His resurrection)))), and the fellowship of his suffering (which are suffer altogether by man), being conformed to his death (dead to sin…those things written in the commandments), if somehow I might obtain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already received or perfected, but I press on to take hold of that for which Messiah Ha Mashiach has also laid hold of me.”

We have to hear this word. Death is at the cross (sin)…walking a way from the cross is life.

Come from among them.     cross inside the church

The church is not in the building, so whether they keep it (the cross steeples) or it stays the message (((should))) go forth. What is it for…it is a death trap. Those crosses were in the movie exorcist too, and the demon didn’t go anywhere. In fact, even now the demons do not tremble at the cross they tremble at the word (James 2:19). It is the word of Yahuwah which saves and binds up. He says, bind on earth and it is bound in heaven, loose on earth and it is already loosed in heaven (Matthew 16:19). Hence, the cross on the church and the cross on the wall is someone elses thinking…the word saying “and be found in Him not having my own righteousness.”

Collecting crosses, on the church, in the church, in your ears, on your neck doesn’t make one righteous.

Tee shirts, banners, glow in dark signs, is not saved. I don’t care how you cut it…it is idolizing self. A sin.

The cross is not power to resurrection, it is the miracle that once dead, death could not keep him…the cross is not fore issue it is the purpose of it. It was used to kill, but Yah’s plan woke him up.

Your Sunday Bread: Narrow is the Gate, Straight is the Way

narrowgate

How many of us really have a firm grasp of truth? We think we do but we don’t, even the greatest scholars and theologians missed this word, why because it has nothing to do with what we think and see but what Yah reveals…when the word says enter the narrow gate, that there are few who find it; it is because few can see it there…why? First of all we have to find it, the narrow gate cannot be found without revelation, because if it were that easy everyone would be there. Secondly,   because of all the “stuff” blocking “The Way.”

Society has conditioned us to believe that if everybody is doing it then it must be ok even in the church. In contrast, society has sold us many things like drugs, alcohol, and sex through movies, and other means and then offers us rehabilitation to recover from them, even in the church a so called rehabilitation center both are worldly. Everybody does those things and they are going the wrong way.

However, this picture is bigger than drugs, alcohol and sex .

It’s what we see, similar to following the highway and having to pay attentions to signs and while driving you and a friend are into a deep conversation and while the exit to the narrow gate looms just ahead, somehow we don’t see because we have gotten off into this deep conversation about something else.

Let’s talk about the broad gate…our friends are there, church members, family and a host of others going down the same road…how do we know those people are there on the same path…well, if we go to the same church most likely we are hanging around with people who are like us…we listen to the word from a preacher, go to church on Sunday and probably eat at each other’s houses. Those in the same income bracket hang with those in the same. While the poorer are friends with their friends that probably aren’t good for them but because those people in the church are nonsocial able this is what happens, the members sleep with other members married are not, the deacons are stealing…all types of stuff is available on the broad road…the preachers are carted off to jail….everybody’s doing it, the narrow gate…happens when you start to wonder and ask God does he really want you living like that…this is church Yah we say, what is the problem?

Furthermore, why would the Yahshua have this conversation with believers in the first place if they were following “The Way?” Remember he said “Ye are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its flavor it is good for nothing?” So, what happened then that Yahshua, had to say this if they were on the narrow path? Some weren’t you see, and he had to warn them that there are wolves in sheep’s clothing come to steal them.

The Way to the narrow path is not Christianity and here is why, we must broaden our thinking past the small individual happenings in our own lives.  The whole world believes the faith of Christianity. Notably, there are people being converted to believe in the name of Jesus  more than any other religion on the planet. Somebody says that is proof that we are on the right path…well, no it’s not. It says much about persuasion and the need for people to fit in and be like everyone else. There are people sitting in church from Sunday to Sunday who are not saved. How do we know…look at the rate of deliverance and the behavior in the church. People look, think, and act just like the unsaved.

Look at this:

According to the article, “Christianity Today – General Statistics and Facts of Christianity.” Mary Fairchild states, “Christianity is ranked the largest religion in the world today. According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, in 2010 there were 2.18 billion Christians around the world, nearly a third of the global population.”  Conversely, when we look at scripture the narrow gate doesn’t seem likely to be found by the masses of the population. When we look at the term “find it” we note that this is something that isn’t so easily accepted.

The Pew Forum on Public Religion & Public Life gives this estimate:

“More than one-quarter of American adults (28%) have left the faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion – or no religion at all. If change in affiliation from one type of Protestantism to another is included, 44% of adults have either switched religious affiliation, moved from being unaffiliated with any religion to being affiliated with a particular faith, or dropped any connection to a specific religious tradition altogether.”

In a way this one would seem that there is something that Christianity is lacking being that the practice of it is so much like the world. It is problematic when people cannot see a difference why would they stay?

Fairchild gives a breakdown of those who practice Christianity worldwide, the Top 3 Largest National Christian Populations:

  • US – 246,780,000 (79.5% of the Population)
  • Brazil – 175,770,000 (90.2% of the Population)
  • Mexico – 107,780,000 (95% of the Population):

Conversely, if the thinking is to find the narrow gate; the question becomes whether the masses hold the key to finding it. Isn’t this more like the broad road; rather than the narrow gate leading to life?

Let’s look at the text,

Luke 17:

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

One came back to give Yah praise, and that one was not associate with Christianity. Notably, he was one those in Christianity would consider least likely. What happened to the others? They went on their way to follow the masses. Narrow is the gate those who praise Yah in spirit and truth will find the narrow gate.

According to Pew,  “The survey finds that the number of people who say they are unaffiliated with any particular faith today (16.1%) is more than double the number who say they were not affiliated with any particular religion as children. Among Americans ages 18-29, one-in-four say they are not currently affiliated with any particular religion.”

Note:  No religion doesn’t equal no belief or faith.

People are evoking their right to choose; even in Religion. Considering our finding, the narrow gate isn’t found in the Masses. People are finding the narrow gate their own way with revelation for the Most High. There is hope.

Ladies and Gentlemen, some of us have been running all our lives trying to fit in with the status quo, longing to be like someone else and even taking on their customs not knowing who we are. Here we are trying to live holy and walk a righteous path mimicking people because we have no root, no stability, no justice.

Justice has come.

Yah says it’s time to come out from among them. We are walking toward newness of life, even now the weight has been lifted just knowing that now we have our identity back. To those who listen this is a powerful message to let you know that Yahweh has not forgotten one hair on your heads.

Speaking of heads…I was led to Matthew 26, where Mary came to where Yeshua was having supper and poured the ointment on his head…this is significant because in this instance…she without knowing it was anointing him for his burial.

How many know that without their HEAD people die, and so it is in this instance that she (the one accused of adultery) was THE CHOSEN to do this wonderful work for the Messiah. Praise Yah everybody your blessing has come. (v. 7, 12)

The oil once poured on the HEAD ran down to his BODY( ye are the chosen and his BODY). Moreover, in saying that ye are his body we seek a more definitive answer for body to get clear vision which notes:

“Body:is used of a (large or small) number of men closely united into one society, or family as it were; a social, ethical, mystical body” (Strongs, 2012).

In a greater translation the body can also be considered in comparison as slaves. This is interesting, because in society a slave has always been considered subservient.

English: The Hunted Slaves

English: The Hunted Slaves (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Here we have in the beginning of text a women considered subservient, chosen to anoint the head; that is the Mashyach with oil which flows down to the body who for all purposes are slaves?

Here is a powerful explanation says the Most High. In Revelations 18, we see this, “And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.” (v.13).

The text is speaking of those things considered a commodity by those in gentile rule, all this that have made them rich. Slaves are among them…people and souls of men.

You are an expensive commodity but still considered subservient in the eyes of those who sold you…but God, When I look at the definition of slave…it led me to:
“that which casts a shadow as distinguished from the shadow itself” (Strongs, 2012)

That shadow found in Psalm 91, the secret place.

Tarrant County Crack Down, Child Support

Today it is not uncommon for fathers to struggle with no support when the mother is absent; it is not the case anymore that women are the ones left with the burden of single parenthood.

Just ask any single parent who, for whatever reason has the misfortune of raising children alone and you will hear a resounding chime as they tell you it gets hard, but what can be done?
According to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, a partnership with 8 Tarrant County Constables has led to 22 arrests for failure to pay their child support. In the August Press Release entitled, “Tarrant County Constables Conduct Child Support Roundup,” reports state, “The Tarrant County constables who participated in the initiative are: Pct. 1 Constable Jerry Crowder, Pct. 2 Constable Robert McGinty, Pct. 3 Constable Zane Hilger, Pct. 4 Constable Dub Bransom, Pct. 5 Constable Sergio Deleon, Pct. 6 Constable Joe Kubes, Pct. 7 Constable Clint Burgess and Pct. 8 Constable Chester Luckett.”
The article goes on to state that those arrested were wanted by authorities for failing to meet their obligated payments.
The Attorney General gives a stern warning saying, “Parents who have outstanding warrants can avoid the embarrassment of arrest at their home or work by turning themselves in to the Tarrant County Jail. Parents who have fallen behind on their child support payments – but are not yet subject to warrants for their arrest – should immediately contact the Attorney General’s Child Support Division at (800) 252-8014 to make payment arrangements.”
State and Federal law determines reprimand for each perspective state; hence, in Tarrant County the duty of the Attorney is to serve those families who request service or those who receive public assistance.

Services offered by the Tarrant County Child Support Division are as follows:
• locating absent parents;
• establishing paternity for children born to unmarried parents;
• establishing, enforcing and modifying child and medical support orders;
• and collecting and distributing child support payments.
The report adds, in 2010 parents in the State Texas had paid more than $241,000,000 in support to their children.

Kansas City Cheif Player Murder-Suicide

A Kansas City Chiefs player kills his girlfriend in a murder-suicide, fans mourn his loss.

‘Jovan Belcher, shot his girlfriend to death on Saturday morning at their home in Kansas City and then drove to the team’s practice facility a few miles away. He then shot himself to death in the parking lot while head coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Scott Pioli watched,” reports say.

Many convey sadness as they deal with the shock of this tragedy.

One fan reflects of how the deceased player was looked upon as a role model in the community, sources say.

Also as tragic is the reality that suicide has claimed the lives of old and young more than one might care to admit.
According to research analysis provided by Suicide in the U.S.: Statistics and Prevention those who are most at risk factors include the following:

  • depression and other mental disorders, or a substance-abuse disorder (often in combination with other mental disorders). More than 90 percent of people who die by suicide have these risk factors
  • prior suicide attempt
  • family history of mental disorder or substance abuse
  • family history of suicide
  • family violence, including physical or sexual abuse
  • firearms in the home, the method used in more than half of suicides
  • incarceration
  • exposure to the suicidal behavior of others, such as family members, peers, or media figures.

Suicide is common among children and young people?

In 2007, suicide was the third leading cause of death for young people ages 15 to 24.1 Of every 100,000 young people in each age group, the following number died by suicide:

Children ages 10 to 14 — 0.9 per 100,000suicide-by-method-chart

Adolescents ages 15 to 19 — 6.9 per 100,000

Young adults ages 20 to 24 — 12.7 per 100,000

As in the general population, young people were much more likely to use firearms, suffocation, and poisoning than other methods of suicide, overall. However, while adolescents and young adults were more likely to use firearms than suffocation, children were dramatically more likely to use suffocation.
There were also gender differences in suicide among young people, as follows:

Nearly five times as many males as females ages 15 to 19 died by suicide.

Just under six times as many males as females ages 20 to 24 died by suicide.

If you or someone you know suffer from any of these symptoms or issues, please know help is available.
