Vivian says, “In politics, Gans said, both ideologues and politicians who lack ideology are treated with suspicion: “Political candidates who talk openly about issues may be described as dull; those who avoid issues entirely evoke doubts about their fitness for office.”

Apparently, even to those who report their stances.

The above response to the presidential candidate is a good introduction into the values held by journalists, because everything about the media reports concerning government concerns to me have been played down. In past times, presidents have vied to cut areas of budget in government which would slight the poor out of much needed social services. However, the news broadcasts and coverage of these particular issues have been brief. Vivian says of “Ethnocentrism, seeing things on the basis of personal experience, values.”

It might be easier for some people to separate their lives from those who ask for help; or, who are receiving help seeing them as different. When I say different I say this because of quotes using terms like: paupers, beggars, or leeches, and with so many opinions going forth I would think that some of these might come across as biased on behalf of the reporter. My thoughts are that this too is reflected in the media’s coverage of those who get that help, because we always get one side of the story. Where is the word of those who receive the help? It seems to me that these people have been bashed with no chance of defense.

A Pew ResearchStudy conveys public opinion of the media; findings in the study “Pew: Public Perception of Media Bias Hits Historic High” suggests, “Said Pew, “The overall ratings for the performance of the news media are quite negative:

  • Fully 66% say news stories often are inaccurate,
  • 77 % think that news organizations tend to favor one side, and
  • 80% say news organizations are often influenced by powerful people and organizations.

The percentage saying that news stories are often inaccurate has risen 13 points since 2007, with much of the increase coming among Democrats and independents, ” the study said.

In my personal opinion, I believe that media bias is evident in many occasions, and this sheds light on why nobody likes to be in the eye of the camera. Notably, people are afraid they will be cast in a bad light or their story not told correctly. I would rather be seen in a bad light for reporting factual information from both sides; rather than, one-sided untruths. I am a truth-seeker and I plan on keeping it that way.

Has Romney Sealed his Fate?

Looks like Romney may have sealed his fate; speaking of the 47% of those people who don’t pay income tax, as those who in his words are “dependent on the government, and who don’t take responsibility for their own lives.”

Who are the 47% he speaks of? Romney describes those who don’t as those “who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you-name-it”.

Is this a fair assumption? Romney and those like him believe so; however, Obama disputed the premise of Romney’s remarks, saying, “There are not a lot of people out there who think they’re victims. There are not a lot of people who think they’re entitled to something.”

Obama stated that not only has Romney written off half of the country, be adds, “When I won in 2008, 47 percent of the American people voted for John McCain,” Obama said. “They didn’t vote for me, and what I said on election night was, even though you didn’t vote for me, I hear your voices, and I’m going to work as hard as I can to be your president.”

Not everyone can say they have worked for the people, Obama can.

State Voter ID Law aka Jim Crow, Racially Charged

In a last ditch straw grasping effort to control voting, Republicans have gone all out to stop the force that is Obama on Nov. 6, Election Day. It is by any means necessary in the race for that most coveted White House Seat marked, Mr. President; however, truth is being uncovered state by state in what looks like, smells like, Jim Crow Laws.

The enforcement of the State ID Requirement Law would mean several groups of people would be left out of the Presidential vote on Nov. 6; which would mean a sure win for the Republican Candidate, Mitt Romney. Why? Well, it would mean that several minority groups without their state identification would not get in to cast their ballot.

The National Conference of State Legislature provides a breakdown of each state’s requirements:

  • Georgia

  • South Dakota
  • Louisiana
  • Michigan
  • Florida
  • New Hampshire

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • North Dakota
  • Texas
  • Oklahoma
  • Arkansas
  • Missouri
  • Kentucky
  • Alabama
  • Ohio
  • Virginia
  • South Carolina

All remaining states made no requirements for identification purposes.

Today, was a big win for Pennysylvania, who won their fight to uphold the ID  law; and, theirs which follows Texas’ win in court last month to stop the enforcement of the law.

The ID restrictions are seen as similar to the Jim Crow Laws which made it impossible for women, and freedmen to vote during times past.

Here are a few for Texas:

Jim Crow laws were passed in the Lone Star state from 1866 to 1958. Some examples include:
1950: Separate facilities required for white and black citizens in state parks
1953: Public carriers to be segregated
1958: No child compelled to attend schools that are racially mixed. No desegregation unless approved by election. Governor may close schools where troops used on federal authority.

The Lies Keep Coming

Romney

Romney (Photo credit: Talk Radio News Service)

“It’s laughable, but not un-predictable, that the Obama campaign would attempt to attack Mitt Romney for his support of a conservative Republican like Rep. Steve King, who has been re-elected by his district 5 times since 2002.”After all, Romney’s support came at an event focused on faith and the family, according to the Des Moines Register. ”

And? Time in and time out America has heard and watched as those of the GOP hearlded insult after insult at the President of the United States, Barack Obama for trying to straightened out a mess that it would take Jesus himself to deliver the nation from.

A man of faith and family, who? Nick Romney and his sidekick what’s name? Pretty boy with the neat ties, Paul Ryans? Aren’t they the same ones who holler cut medicaid funding and handle sickness with a voucher, and aren’t they the same who want to cut your childrens college funding so that those who can’t pay tuition will be or continue to be poor; while they fill their pockets further hoarding what should belong to all?

Faith, family? Hog wash!

America you had better watch your back, front and sides on this fella!
